KING GEORGE INN South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania The historic King George Inn has been closed and is currently threatened with demolition. And members of the public are concerned. On Thursday, September 12, 2013, a meeting will be held to discuss historic preservation and explore alternatives the fate of the building. The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Lehigh County Heritage Museum, located at 432 West Walnut Street in Allentown beginning at 6:30 p.m. Erin Hammerstedt, Field Representative for Preservation Pennsylvania, will make a brief presentation regarding potential alternatives identified for the King George Inn, historic preservation tools, and potential financial resources. She will then facilitate a discussion among attendees regarding those alternatives, tools and resources as they relate to the King George Inn. Preservation Pennsylvania is the Commonwealth’s only private, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the protection of historically and architecturally significant resources. Our mission is to help people protect and preserve the historic places that matter to them.
